Where will I walk and what will I hear?

The Sydney Harbour Bridge self guided walking tour starts at Milsons Point Railway station on the northern side of the harbour. From here, you will walk down the hill towards the harbour, under the bridge, past Luna Park and then back up the hill to the steps of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You will then walk up the steps and stroll across the pedestrian walkway on the eastern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The walk ends on the southern side of the bridge, on Cumberland Street in the Rocks district of Sydney. You will hear stories and discover information about the beginnings of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, how the bridge was built, Luna Park, the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison, The Sydney Opera House, workers stories, and be baffled by some amazing statistics!

How much does the walk cost, and what do I get?

The Sydney Harbour Bridge walk will cost you $10AUD. We use a safe and secure online credit card transaction system called Paypal,and there are no hidden costs. After your payment has been confirmed, you will be granted access to download the audio, a track listing, a map and several other pages containing information about getting there and away and a summary of the stories about the places of interest you'll be visiting.

How far is the walk, and how long will it take?

The Sydney Harbour Bridge Self Guided Walking Tour is approximately 2.5 kilometers in length. Without stopping, the walk will take about 1 hour. The pace at which you do this self guided walking tour is up to you! You may like to stop, take a seat and listen to the audio when you reach points of interest along the way. Take your time, as the view from the walkway on the Sydney Harbour Bridge is incredible!

How difficult is the walk?

The walk will vary in difficulty depending on your level of fitness. Some may find it more difficult than others. The walking surface is concrete or gravel for the duration of the walk. There are steep stairways at either end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, with handrails provided.

What public facilities are along the way?

On the northern side of the harbour, there are public toilets located at Milsons Point Railway Station and under the bridge itself within Bradfield Park. The location of these toilets will be marked on your map when you purchase this self guided walking tour. There is occasional seating located on the northern side of the harbour, on the foreshore. Please note that there is no seating provided on the Sydney Harbour Bridge pedestrian walkway. There are various food and drink outlets located on either side of the harbour.

Getting there and away:

How do I get to the start of the walk at Milsons Point Railway Station?
Train: CityRail trains run regularly to and from Milsons Point Station. Visitors should use the following train lines:
  • The North Shore and Western Lines (indicated as a Yellow line on your CityRail network map)
  • The Northern Line (indicated as a Red line on your CityRail network map)
Taxi: Request your driver takes you to Milsons Point Railway Station.
Parking: There is paid parking in the streets surrounding Milson’s Point Railway Station.

How do I get from the end of the walk at Cumberland Street, in The Rocks, back to Milsons Point?
Train: Walk towards the city, along Cumberland Street and then York Street, until you reach Wynyard Railway Station. Visitors should use the following train lines:
  • The North Shore and Western Lines (indicated as a Yellow line on your CityRail network map)
  • The Northern Line (indicated as a Red line on your CityRail network map)
Taxi: Pick up from Cumberland Street, The Rocks, to your final destination.
Parking: Walk back to Milson’s Point via The Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Kirribilli Markets Kirribilli Markets are held on the fourth Saturday of the month on the former Kirribilli Bowling Club site ( corner of Fitzroy and Alfred St on the western side of the Harbour Bridge).
